A cat can also become infected without ever coming in direct contact with an infected cat. Bedding, cages, food dishes and the hands or clothing of people who handle the infected cat may harbor the virus and transmit it to other cats. It is, therefore, very important to isolate infected cats. Any materials used on or for infected cats should not be used or allowed to come in contact with other cats, and people handling infected cats should practice proper hygiene to prevent spreading the infection.

The virus that causes Feline Panleukopenia is difficult to destroy and resistant to many disinfectants. At room temperatures, virus present in a cat’s environment can still infect other cats for up to one year. Ideally, unvaccinated cats should not be allowed into an area where an infected cat has been, even if the area has been disinfected. Pregnant female cats that are infected with the virus and become ill (even if they do not appear seriously ill) may give birth to kittens with severe brain damage. In most cases, if a cat recovers from Feline Panleukopenia, it will not infect other cats through direct contact.

Canine parvo virus causes lethargy; loss of appetite; fever; vomiting; and severe, often bloody, diarrhea. Vomiting and diarrhea can cause rapid dehydration, and most deaths from parvo virus occur within 48 to 72 hours following onset of clinical signs. If your puppy or dog shows any of these signs, you should contact your veterinarian promptly.

Vaccination is important. Young puppies are very susceptible to infection, particularly because the natural immunity provided in their mothers’ milk may wear off before the puppies’ own immune systems are mature enough to fight off infection. If a puppy is exposed to canine parvo virus during this gap in protection, it may become ill. An additional concern is that immunity provided by a mother’s milk may interfere with an effective response to vaccination. This means even vaccinated puppies may occasionally succumb to parvo virus. To narrow gaps in protection and provide optimal protection against parvo virus during the first few months of life, a series of puppy vaccinations are administered.

Very young puppies and kittens are highly susceptible to infectious diseases because their immune systems are not fully mature. While nursing, their mother’s milk contains antibodies (special proteins) that provide some immunity to diseases; however, these maternal antibodies do not last long, and there may be gaps in protection as the milk antibodies decrease and the puppies’ or kittens’ immune system isn’t yet capable of fighting off infection.

In many instances, the first dose of a vaccine serves to prime the pet’s immune system against the virus or bacteria while subsequent doses help to further stimulate the immune system to produce the antibodies needed to protect a pet from specific diseases. To keep these gaps in protection as small as possible and to provide optimal protection against disease in the first few months of life, a series of vaccinations are scheduled, usually 3-4 weeks apart.

For most puppies and kittens, the final vaccination in the series is administered at about 4 months of age; however, in some situations, a veterinarian may alter this schedule based on an individual animal’s risk factors. Remember that an incomplete series of vaccinations may lead to incomplete protection, making puppies and kittens vulnerable to infection.

Puppies and dogs usually become infected through airborne exposure to the virus contained in respiratory secretions of an infected dog or wild animal.

All dogs are at risk but puppies younger than four months old and dogs that have not been vaccinated against canine distemper are at increased risk of acquiring the disease.

The first sign of distemper is eye discharge that may appear watery to pus-like. Subsequently, dogs develop fever, nasal discharge, coughing, lethargy, reduced appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. In later stages, the virus may attack the nervous system, bringing about seizures, twitching, or partial or complete paralysis. Occasionally, the virus may cause footpads to harden.

How to prevent Canine Distemper?

Vaccination and avoiding contact with infected animals are key elements of canine distemper prevention.

Vaccination is important. Young puppies are very susceptible to infection, particularly because the natural immunity provided in their mothers’ milk may wear off before the puppies’ own immune systems are mature enough to fight off infection. To protect adult dogs, pet owners should be sure that their dog’s distemper vaccination is up-to-date. Ask your veterinarian about a recommended vaccination program for your canine companion.

Below are kinds of vaccines that often used to prevent canine distemper:

Dog Anal Sac Disorders may be caused by androgen stimulation since they occur predominantly in males. Combined androgenic and estrogenic influences may be involved because when they do occur in females, spayed females are more commonly affected than sexually intact females. The others predisposing factors include chronically soft feces, recent diarrhea, excessive glandular secretions, and poor muscle tone; retained secretions may lead to infection and abscessation; small breed dogs, including miniature poodles, toy poodles, and chihuahuas are reportedly predisposed to anal sac carcinoma.

How to diagnose anal sac disorders?
The history and examination of the anal sacs by digital palpation will establish the diagnosis. If easily palpated through the skin, they are considered enlarged. On expression, normal anal sacs fluid is clear or pale yellow-brown. Thick, pasty brown secretion is characteristic of impaction, and creamy yellow or thin green-yellow secretion is often seen in animals with anal sacculitis.

However the nearness could be lost when our dog got illness. The dog, as in the case of humankind also could suffer the metabolic illness that involved the organ. One of the metabolic illnesses that could attack the dog was cystitis or urinary bladder inflammation. This infection cause several signs that could be acute or chronic. The suffered dog will show the sign like the existence of blood in the urine, increased urine frequency; appetite lost, stomach disorders, the tension at the time of urinate, in fact in the case that continued will be seen urine that was mixed with gore.

What should we do if we found our dogs got cystitis? First, fast the dog or should not give him eat until you carried him to your Veterinarian. If the bleeding happened more than 24 hours and was not treated yet by the Veterinarian, Give the glucose solution to your dog. The glucose solution could be made by means of: mixed 3 - 4 tablespoons of the glucose powder with 500 ml of water, afterwards gave this solution 1 - 2 tablespoons (25 – 50 ml) every time two hours.

Below are recommended dog food and vitamin to prevent dog cystitis: Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Adult Preventative, Nutri-Vet Green Grass Liver Flavored Chewables.

The cause of the shallot poisoning in dogs and cats was the inability of the body to produce enzyme that could digest this material. The dose of poisoning depended on the animal size. Shallot poisoning caused anemia in Heinz body. Heinz body is a small bubble that stood out from red blood cells and could be seen when the cell was colored. This bubble was the weak spot in red blood cells and caused the decline of the living period and dropped or the red blood cells will outbreak before the time.

The effect of shallot poison stayed same although being given in a raw, cooked or drought. Hemolytic happened several days after the shallot was eaten (hematocrit lowered around 5 days after being eaten). Every day shallot giving could cause the cumulative effect of the Heinz body continually opposed the single opening with the wide gap, until the following opening, gave time of bones marrow to form again red blood cells that broke before the time. Moreover the shallot could also cause liver damage, vomited, diarrhea, and uncolored urine.

The Eye Disorders was not only encountered to humankind, but quite a few were encountered to the dogs. The case happened to the multitudinous dog, from the minor case to heavy. The owner’s ignorance of the dog would the cause of the Eye Disorders often result in got a serious disturbance to the dog eyes.
Wrong therapy could make eyes damage more spread. For example drop eye medicines not suitable for the glaucoma or the increasing pressure of the eyeball liquid. Moreover when excessive giving will make destruction of the eyeball that resulted in blindness. To understand various cases of the eyes, based on its anatomy, at least the problem was divided into eyeball problem and the outside of the eyeball problem.

The important part of the eyes that often experienced the disturbance is cornea or the most outside part of the eyeball took the form of the thin layer. This part often experienced the wound (ulcer cornea) because of various matters, the trauma or the bacterial infection. Behind cornea was gotten the liquid that was acknowledged as anterior dumber that often his pressure increased because the rise in the waste of the available liquid was mentioned glaucoma. The liquid pressure increased cause the eyepiece to be pressed, so as to blindness happen. Whereas that was meant by cataracts is eyepiece that caused by the age factor. Inflammation of the iris or the slice often mentioned as uveitis. So it’s clear, that must be careful in naming the magma changes to the eyes because not all the changes in the cornea were cataracts.
Others Eye Disorders of the outside of the eyeball was incision. Incision was the waste of the eyes that often were encountered to the corner of the eyes. The cause of incision was varied among them because of the foreign object or because of buckling the eyelids had a direction the eyeball so as the eyes as being stabbed. The other cause of incision could take the form of the germs infection or the allergy so as the eyes were felt itchy. Generally when the infection or the interior allergy from the eyelids happening reddened or became excited. Incision also could happen because obstruction of the eyes tract.
Eye Disorders that also occurred often encountered were cherry eye or the issuing of the middle eyelids so it is looks like a stand out eyes that similar to cherry that only could be treating by operation. The trauma that often happened is pacula or caused by the bite that often caused by the issuing of the eyeball. It is only occurred on pekingese dogs. It should immediately handled by putting again the eyeball and sewing the eyelids so as to keep the eyeball went again out. In the difficult incident was the eyeball could not have functioned again then better be released or amputated so it will not cause the continued infection.
From the analysis above could be concluded that it’s need to be careful in handling the dog eye disorders because not all eyes medicine could overcome the problem of the eyes even when causing the bigger problem.

It’s a myth that you should rarely bathe your dog. Show dogs are usually bathed weekly and are in fantastic condition. Bathe to your heart’s content. The key is to brush often (daily for some dogs) to keep the natural oils distributed in the coat. The other key is that when you shampoo, rinse thoroughly and dry thoroughly. In the case of a long or thick-coated dog this usually means using a dog blow dryer (which doesn’t deliver heat – very important, only powerful air) and drying right down to the skin (brush as you blow to “fluff” the dog). Nails are easier to trim after bathing as they’re softened up.

There are lots of “self-service” bathing stations in pet stores these days if you don’t want to make a mess of your own bathroom or don’t want to use the yard. You can use the following products to bath your dogs: Pet Aromatic Woodsy Woof Dog Bath, Booster Bath Plastic Dog Bath, Indoor - Outdoor Pet Shower

Product Description:

In athletics as in architecture, form follows function, and nowhere is that truth more important than in equestrian sports. The better a horse's conformation (how the animal measures up to, or "conforms," to the ideal standards of its breed or type), the better it will be able to perform. Using hundreds of photographs and drawings, this masterfully produced book will show you how to develop the "eye" that any horseman needs to assess equine conformation and anatomy. Its comprehensive text focuses on ideal and abnormal conformation features; balance and symmetry; the relationship between conformation faults and athletic ability; colors and markings; as well as anatomical elements, teeth, and aging; body systems; and the relationship between structure and function.

Now in paperback, HORSE CONFORMATION is the single most valuable book on its subject and one that deserves a prominent place in every horse owner's or rider's library.
