All Creatures Great and Small
These are the stories that catapulted James Herriot to literary fame. When this book was first published, it was merely a simple volume of memoirs by an unknown Scottish veterinarian. But within a year, the book became recognized as a masterpiece. And in the three decades that followed, Dr. Herriot became one of the most universally loved authors of our time.
In this first volume of memoirs, then-newly-qualified vet James Herriot arrives in the small Yorkshire village of Darrowby and he has no idea what to expect. How will he get on with his new boss? With the local farmers? And what will the animals think? This program is filled with hilarious and touching tales of the unpredictable Sigfriend Farnon, Sigfreid’s zany brother, Tristan, and Herriot’s first encounters with a beautiful girl called Helen.
Now as then, All Creatures Great and Small is full of humor, warmth, pathos, drama, and James Herriot’s love of life. His journey across the Yorkshire dales, and his encounters with humans and dogs, cows, and kittens are lovingly told by Christopher Timothy with all the fascination, affection, and joy that suffuses Dr. Herriot’s work.
A thorough appreciation of the cellular, molecular and tissue changes which precede the birth of an animal is a fundamental requirement for understanding normal structural development and also abnormal processes which result in congenital defects. This textbook provides information relevant to many subjects taught in preclinical, paraclinical and clinical years. Early chapters describe and explain sequential events relating to the division, growth and differentiation of cells and to the formation of foetal membranes, implantation and placentation. Succeeding chapters trace the origin, growth, development and maturation of the major body systems. Age determination of the embryo and foetus is reviewed in a single chapter. Genetic, chromosomal and environmental factors which adversely affect pre-natal development are reviewed in the final chapter. A reading list at the end of each chapter offers additional sources of information on the topics discussed. Tables, flow diagrams and numerous hand-drawn illustrations provide information in a form which complements the concepts presented in the text.

An antiseptic to aid in wound healing and in prevention of topical bacterial and fungal infections -including wounds, cuts, abrasions, ears, hooves, udders, declaws, ear cropping, navel dipping, tail docking, castrations and surgical site preparations.
A third generation iodine solution with high activity and low dermal toxicity for use on horses, dogs and farm animals.
Three times as active as povidone iodine and tincture of iodine.
Has a broader range of activity against bacterial and fungal infections.
Does not sting upon application.
Has low dermal toxicity – does not irritate skin and eyes.
Slight discoloration of skin or hair disappears within 5 minutes
Unlike other iodines which simply lay on the surface, Xenodine actually penetrates the skin
Adheres to the application site longer to continue fighting infection. As a result, frequent reapplication is unnecessary
DIRECTIONS: Cleanse affected area thoroughly and apply Xenodine two or three times daily, or as needed. Apply a sufficient amount of Xenodine to cover the affected area. For more rapid release of active ingredient, Xenodine must be applied to a moist surface. The wound site may be covered or bandaged after application. When using the pump spray, adjust the nozzle by turning counter clockwise approximately 1/4 turn or until the desired spray pattern is obtained. Hold the container 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) from the skin.
